Features
Scene assembly in OpenUSD
Combine assets and organise edits across USD layers in the Layers panel. Keep shot-specific changes in a separate layer while preserving the source asset. Scene structure and editing stay within OpenUSD.
Scene control with Attribute Editor
Find objects in Outliner, edit their properties in Attribute Editor and inspect USD composition in USD Details View. Trace an attribute’s value to the layer that contributes it, so you can make changes in the right place.
Shading with Material Editor
Connect shaders and textures in USDShade node graphs. Node search and automatic layout help organise complex materials and make their connections easier to follow. MaterialX shaders are supported; availability depends on the renderer and installed plugins.
Lighting and Light Linking
Evaluate lighting in the viewport through Hydra. Usd Light Outliner brings light sources into one list, while Light Linking controls which objects they affect. Refine lighting on individual parts of the scene while keeping the whole shot in view.
Render comparisons in Render View
Compare render versions and inspect individual AOVs to judge changes in lighting and materials. OpenColorIO colour management lets you use your studio’s OCIO configuration and review images in the chosen colour space.
Refine geometry and curves
Adjust points with soft selection, sculpt surfaces and edit curves. Refine an asset’s shape and silhouette alongside surrounding objects and through the scene camera.
Unwrap with UV Editor and paint attributes
Switch between UV sets and move UV shells in UV Editor. Use Texture Paint for textures and primvar painting tools for surface attributes. Make local colour and mask adjustments directly on the model.
Hair and fur with WGen
Create guides, control density and add hair modifiers in the scene where you develop the character. Evaluate hair and fur alongside materials and lighting, with WGen parameters available for further adjustments.
Automation with Python
Access USDStage from the built-in Script Editor to automate repeated operations and process scene objects with scripts. Add tools through the package and plugin system to support your studio’s workflows.
